- Articulate what combined training is and why it is important to weight loss and management.
- Explain the relationship between combined training, including resistance training, and substrate utilization and excess post exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC).
- Analyze the research on substrate utilization during and after exercise, including oxygen and fat, and apply it to combined training.
- Build effective exercise routines that maximize the benefits of substrate utilization and EPOC.

Amy Ashmore, PhD
Amy holds a PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Austin. She is the author of Timing Resistance Training (Human Kinetics, 2020) and over 40 professional development courses for physical therapists, strength & conditioning coaches, and athletic trainers. Amy is former Florida State University faculty and currently owns and operates physicaltherapy.education, a continuing education agency located in Las Vegas, Nevada.
